The day has long passed, if it ever existed, that we can put our trust into the hands of government and government agencies when it comes the foods that we consume on a daily basis.

Like it or not, let’s pull our heads out of the sand…

I know I’m not likely going to surprise to many people in this article. We all know, we’ve all heard and seen, but we don’t really want to know do we. It’s much easier to turn a blind eye and flow with the status quo, or as our title implies, bury our heads in the sand.

My own jouney into this began with “Aspartame” . I was quite upset to find out how horrible this stuff, that I was consuming in mass quantities, really was/is. I really couldn’t understand how a chemical concoction like this this could be “approved” while an all natural, calorie free sweetener like Stevia was being restricted and suppressed. If you don’t know what I’m talking about and you’re still drinking this stuff… do a little research!

Well, obviously it’s all about money. The same goes for the food industry. It’s not about your health, sustainability, the environment, or even the future of all mankind, it’s about dollars and cents. Well don’t include cents now if you’re Canadian.

The images presented to you in the grocery stores and especially the packaging of today’s foods show you the open range, the red barn with the clean white picket fence, and healthy chickens that can actually walk… The reality is that most of the meat, poulty and fish are coming from high density, growth and/or genetically altered, environmentally un-sustainable “farms”.

I won’t go on to extrapolate the details, try to pull your head out of the sand, and make the case for naturally raised meats, poultry and wild seafood. It’s a journey you must navigate on your own. In this “Information Age” all the information is available. You just need to want to know! I hope this article will make you want to know more.

Hmmmm. Free range Ostrich… I wonder if we can add that to our products?
